“ rory’s wonderful, we get along very well. in fact, i’m looking forward to spending time with her out of the classroom setting. what’s this, twenty questions? ”
he can’t admit to max that lorelai and rory are the closest thing he’s had to a family since his father passed away, that they’re the people he wants to celebrate with. he can’t tell max that he was so unbelievably proud of rory when she got into chilton. “ just making sure i can entrust mythe girls into your care. NOT that they need anyone to take care of them. the two have managed pretty darn well on their own. ”
his heart feels like it’s going to FALL out of his chest like he can’t catch his breath. everything feels like it’s broken like nothing sits right in his mind. he wonders briefly wonders how lorelai is taking such news but he can’t wrap his mind around the fact that she’s gone. rory’s GONE. how can rory be gone? he REFUSES to believe it.
it doesn’t hit him until so much later, while he && lorelai sit in the living room going through rory’s baby book, that she’s gone. that she won’t be walking through the front door again.
